GEFYRA continues to invest on innovative maintenance for maximum safety and operational performance (Photos & videos)

• Launch of the corrosion protection repair works of the steel surfaces of the Bridge
• Estimated investments of €7,4M for 2023-2024 in technical  works at the edge of innovation

GEFYRA, Concessionaire of the Rion-Antirrion Bridge, started carrying corrosion protection works on the steel surfaces of the approach viaduct. The works will be completed by June 9. During the works, traffic will continue under normal conditions. These strategic maintenance works are part of Gefyra’s permanent commitment to safety and operational performance, while ensuring that the bridge continues being a technical reference at Greek and international level.

A member of VINCI Highways’ network, one of the world’s largest highway concessionaires, the Rion-Antirrion Bridge benefits from strong financial investments and unparalleled technical expertise. Gefyra estimates that €7.4 million euros would be spent in 2023 and 2024 in relation to the improvement, repair and maintenance works on the bridge and associated facilities, as well as permanent technical monitoring, carried out in accordance with the highest standards of quality. Since the opening of the bridge in 2004, approximatively €50M investment has been deployed by Gefyra for similar works, including the Lightning Protection System

Highly qualified personnel and state-of-the-art systems are mobilized to ensure those missions, notably divers for underwater inspections and rope-access technicians for the inspection of the cables and the external surfaces of the pylons. Furthermore, the new technologies brought by the Concessionaire to perform the maintenance include mobile platforms, negative platforms, remote operated vehicles and drones
